Welcome to Versailles

The 22nd IUSTI-Europe Conference on Sexually Transmitted Infections is organized by the European Branch of the International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections (IUSTI-Europe), with the support of the French Society of Dermatology (SFD).
It will be held from 19 to 21 October 2006 at the Palais des Congrès, Versailles, France, 20 minutes from Paris City Centre.

Dear Colleagues,

From 19th to 21st October 2006 top scientists, clinicians and the community involved in Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) will meet in the Palais des Congrès, in the city of Versailles, former residence of the French Kings, close to Paris, for the 22nd Conference of the International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections (IUSTI-Europe).

Venereology was born in Paris with the 2 major syphiligraphists from the 19th century : Philippe Ricord (1800-1889) and Alfred Fournier (1832-1914) and the French School of Dermato-Venereology was subsequently highlighted by Queyrat, Balzer, Milian, Ravaut & Sezary.

During the 1st World Congress of Dermatology (1889), more than half of the scientific presentations were devoted to syphilis. And during the last World Congress of Dermatology (Paris 2002), many topics were focused on STIs.

More than 3000 French dermato-venereologists remain experts in the field and will be honored to host their European and World colleagues.

This conference will be an excellent opportunity for dermatovenereologists, genito-urinary medicine, infectious diseases and HIV physicians as well as microbiologists from all over the World, to share skills and experience and discuss the latest advances and progress in clinical works, basic sciences, epidemiology and research in HIV and STIs. Indeed, Europe and the rest of the world have to fight the resurgence of old diseases such as syphilis, gonorrhea and lymphogranuloma venereum.

The scientific programme will be undoubtedly fascinating and the social programme in the marvellous Versailles surroundings will be unforgettable.

The local French organizing Committee, in conjunction with a select scientific International Committee, is looking forward to welcoming you in Paris.
